Forecasters say we could face some localized flooding through Saturday, as a warm front produces widespread showers and thunderstorms.
Weather Channel Meteorologist Mark Thibodeaux says a flash flood watch has been posted for areas north and west of New Orleans.
"And even though Orleans Parish is not directly in the watch, we are looking at the potential for heavy rainfall just about everywhere across southeast Louisiana," Thibodeaux said.
Rainfall totals of 3 to 5 inches will be possible Friday in the flash flood watch area, with locally higher amounts possible.
"The biggest thing this afternoon is gonna be the potential for some flooded roadways here and there with, in the background, the isolated chance that one or two of these storms could have some damaging wind," Thibodeaux said.
Thibodeaux expects the rain to gradually taper off overnight as the disturbance moves east.
