Veolia Transportation, which has taken over operations of New Orleans-area ferries, has announced extended service hours for the final days of Carnival 2014.
Starting Friday, February 28 the Algiers/Canal Street Ferry will run later into the night, with the last boat leaving Algiers Point at Midnight, and from the Canal St. terminal at 12:15 a.m. From Saturday the 29 through Mardi Gras Day, there will be an additional vessel on the water between 3 p.m. and Midnight.
Hours for the Chalmette Ferry will remain the same during this time.
Veolia will start charging a $2 one-way fare this Sunday, February 23. A ferry information line is available at 504-376-8233.
