A newly ousted member of a New Orleans-area flood protection board says he'll be working privately to maintain political support for the board's controversial lawsuit against 97 oil, gas and pipeline companies.
Author and historian John Barry briefly addressed Thursday's meeting of the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East.
Gov. Bobby Jindal, who opposed the suit, on Wednesday named three new members to the nine-member board, which had earlier unanimously supported the suit.
Barry, whose term expired, was passed over for re-appointment as Jindal took his first opportunity to replace lawsuit supporters.
Barry said he will work with a group independent of the board that will be working to support the lawsuit.
