35-year-old Christopher Ricker, the St. Tammany Parish work release inmate who escaped Thursday, is back in custody.
Ricker was apprehended Friday night, but the details of his capture were not released by the Tangipahoa Sheriff's Office.
The St. Tammany Sheriff's Office received a call from Ricker's girlfriend around 8:30 a.m. Thursday reporting that she had been abducted from her job in Covington by Ricker, who then drove her to Tangipahoa Parish. Ricker let her go on Wardline Road.
He was then spotted by Tangipahoa Parish deputies in Loranger on Highway 442. After a brief chase, Ricker crashed his car into a tree near Cherokee Beach, jumped into the Tangipahoa River, and was last seen heading east on foot.
At the time of his escape, Ricker was serving a sentence for theft and was scheduled to be released in this October.
