A spokesman for the American Automobile Association (AAA) says gasoline prices are on the way up and they may not come down until October.
Don Redman says gas prices in Louisiana have gone up 17 cents over the past two weeks. The statewide average was $3.47 a gallon on Wednesday.
Redman says prices are up because the price of crude oil is up, fueled mainly by tensions in the Middle East, in particular in Egypt and Syria.
And he expects prices to continue to rise in the short term.
"We could see prices increase perhaps as much as another 10 cents, within the next three to four weeks," Redman said.
Still, gas prices in Louisiana are lower than they are in California, where motorists are paying over $4 a gallon.
